Folklife Festival
October 21, 2000
|
The 2000 Prairie Cajun Folklife Festival took place on a beautiful
autumn Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 10 p.m. that night. A large
crowd was on hand for music, dancing, food, crafts demonstrations, and a lot more.
These pages include a few pictures of some of the great musicians who performed that day.
The first page includes musicians that performed in the morning or the first part of the
afternoon. For additional photographs, include many shots of crafts booths, go to the Official City of Eunice Site page on the
Folklife Festival.

Junior Martin is shown sitting in on steel
guitar with Kenneth Thibodeaux and the
Cajun Dance Band, the first group to
perform on the main stage at 10 a.m.
Steve Carriere is shown doing the vocals
with the band Hot Step. His son J.C. Carriere
is shown at right on accordion. Hot Step performed on the stage in front of Acadiana
Sounds Recording Studio. Earlier in the fall,
Acadiana Records released a CD titled
Papa by J.C. Carriere and Hot Step.

Brandon Moreau played fiddle with other
members of Les Jeunes Cajuns, a group
that recorded and released a CD with
Acadiana Records later in the fall.

Shelton Manuel was one of the old-time
fiddlers jamming with other musicians on the
stage in front of Acadiana Records.
